Humanistic Worldview

Nature has already brewed up a conspiracy to contain human population over growth. I see polarization of forces in the form of ISIS and its enemies. It’s high time we retrieve back our war mongering leaders. There is an urgent need to support and bring to the front leaders of peace. We should stop fighting because war brings nothing else than death and destruction. Our war mongering leaders are looking for territorial gains by exploiting prevailing crisis. We should be united in our efforts to restore our environment. There is an need to redistribute resources like knowledge resource, raw materials, manufacturing hubs and service hubs globally. Even the management expertise and resources of terror leaders can be utilized for the cause of service to humanity if possible. We need to correct our failure to bring about equitable and distributed growth of our planet earth. The territorial gain ambitions are futile as the whole planet belongs to humans and our fellow beings. We need to spread environmental awareness and awareness of our right to lead a human life. We need to spread love and compassion for our fellow humans and other beings. We need to serve our mother earth and restore her pride in her children. She should be proud of the service we deliver to heal her wounds. We need to channelize monetary as well as other resources whenever a crisis occurs through charity rather than trying to use it for materialistic gains.
It’s time we learn from our mistakes and admit them without the fear that others will take undue advantage of our confessions. We should stop playing blame game and try to correct our mistakes. We need to be the change we wish to see. Each one should do his part towards this noble cause. It’s time we use peace and conscience as instruments of human and environmental welfare. It’s high time we adopt glocal policy. The goods and services produced in any part of world should be produced locally but as per global quality standards using highly energy efficient technologies. We need to minimize wastage and losses as much as possible. People in overgrown cities should consider relocating to villages to ensure easy availability of services and resources. Once this plan for containing emission and wastage gains sufficient momentum, we should strive to have a global population control policy in order to make our planet a better place to live in. Profits have no use unless they do real good to humans and our planet. We should avoid wars at all cost as they cost heavily in terms of energy, resources and precious human lives. Let us be what we are right from our birth. To err is human. A mistake done repeatedly is a sin.  Let us be humans. Humans who value human sentiments. Humans who care for each other. Humans who work for service to humanity out of their own free will rather than forced capitalist labors. Mass production is good as long as it minimizes cost and energy for production and consumption of goods. What is the use of having unduly high prices and skewed profit sharing in the production to consumption chain? Monopoly is harmful. The leading MNCs should allow sister firms of their sector to grow and flourish in order to promote healthy competition for their mutual and multilateral benefits. Monopolistic tendencies should be avoided as over concentration of power and responsibilities generally leads to saturation, burnout and losses. Loss of morale and saturation of growth. Look at our own universe. It exists because we are having billions of tiny stars rather than a single mega star. Such a mega star will actually collapse under his own gravity and form a giant black hole of monstrous proportions.
So we should transform from concentration towards controlled distribution. The sun controls his fusion reaction to provide us energy. If sun explodes (supernova) we will receive destruction in place of energy. Let us start a silent transformation. From wars settle in scores to mature humanity. From ignorance towards enlightenment. From war towards peace. From mindless exploitation to meaningful utilization. From hatred towards love and compassion. From blame game towards correcting our own mistakes. From competitive insecurity and uncertainty towards social security. From cynical thinking towards fidelity, fraternity and universal brotherhood. From revenge, resentment and grudges towards clean conscience, peace of mind and harmony. From oppression and dominance towards self-actualization and self-regulation (discipline). From greed towards charity and altruism. From endless demands of few towards fulfillment of basic needs of all human beings. From low grades and percentiles towards humanistic upgrades. Please don’t force any of the above on anyone. Let people use their own conscience to choose. Inspiration Gratitude and Optimistic Vision of Our Survival

Once a person becomes observant and knowledgeable, he will feel as if we all are mere puppets dancing to the tune of nature’s conspiracies. Nobody in this world was born the way he is today. Nobody is good or bad as such. “Sahi galat, tumhara mai, mujhe paana, paana hai khud ko”-lines from Jo Bhi Main song of rockstar movie. Meaning “I am your good and faults, I have to discover and meet myself.”  There are always reasons as to why a person behaves in a certain way. So we should rather hate the sin and not the sinner.” Mai wo hoon jo main nahi hoon, aur jo mai nahi hoon mai wahi hoon” meaning that, “I am what I am not, and what I am not, I am only that.” Quote from the deleted scenes video of rockstar movie.
The best reason why good happens in life is that we do not need a 100% good person to make it happen. Even less than 50% would suffice. However we all should invariably try to be as good as we can be even though the 100% mark will remain ever elusive. Instantaneous 100% is not same as integral from birth to death 100%. We are all constrained by our own circumstances, thoughts and values. We should try to discover our inherent characteristics and modify it as per the constructive suggestions of our own conscience. This has the potential to guiding us towards the path of enlightenment and salvation. Salvation may be conceptualized as a state of eternal bliss.
Thankfully our pursuit of knowledge is endless and it provides us a way to add meaning to our existence. Thankfully our pursuit of excellence is endless and allows us to remain creative and productive throughout our lives. Thankfully there are problems which we need to tackle at various levels of our existence. And as we do that new and more difficult problems surface every day. This goes on throughout life and life keeps going through problems. Thankfully our lives are finite but even then we can survive by devising solutions to various problems. People will use our solutions at each instance of the problem and we will continue to survive in their memories by means of our solutions. They will be thankful to us for our solutions. Thankfully there exists no master solution to all our problems. Neither there should be as such a solution will render our existence meaningless. No work, no productivity, no scope for creativity and meaningless existence.

Finally let us hope that there always will remain diversity and differences. We need not allow them to manifest themselves into conflicts. Whenever this happens let’s hope that there will be an amicable resolution of such conflicts. Let us hope that there will be a day in the history of mankind when we will be able to value each of diverse professions that have developed out of human progress and no profession would be looked upon as that of lesser value. Let us hope that there will be laws governing each and every profession and righteousness will become inbuilt in each of them. Let us hope that there remains of hope of our survival as a virtuous race and that virtues will continue to guide our path forever. That’s exactly where our hope of survival lies.

Nature

Nature has got best of everything. She can always inspire us to be better. If you have insight, nature will turn out to be the best in everything. I have seen fractals generated by computer algorithms. Some of them resemble natural patterns. This tempts me to think that nature has done all the calculations to churn out those beautiful patterns. This thought can be a bit tricky. May be nature has done none! The beauty is natural. We are the ones thinking of it as an algorithmic calculation. I remember the saying ‘Beauty lies in the eyes of observer’.
I am exhilarated to learn that as a river flows, it cleans itself. Stagnation leads to rotting. If I think of the circulatory system of our body as a river basin, stagnation of river is analogous to clotting of blood veins. While you may be, marveling at the symmetry of nature. Nature will step out and show you asymmetry. As If she is telling “I am not only good at symmetry. I know asymmetry as well.” I wish to yell, ”You know better”.
The study of food chains and food webs can be: All too interesting. How well managed and balanced nature is! Tigers do not kill unless they are hungry. What a discipline! When the fresh water of river flows into oceans, the ocean is saline. Nature preserves the water with its salt. The same salt: We use it to preserve our food stuff or extend its lifetime. Feels like our soul. Originates in the mountains. Flowing in the river. Transverses various terrains. And finally nature is waiting patiently. To preserve it. Along the way it irrigates the green fields. Lush forests. Now our mighty sun is hovering over the horizon. It evaporates the ocean. And we have cycle of life and death. The water that reaches the depth of ocean. Will hardly ever evaporate(not unless the ocean runs dry). Like the ocean bed is inhabited by the souls that attained salvation. Free from cycle of life and death.
Mechanics of nature. How did a thick and heavily branched tree knew that to attain mechanical equilibrium, it should branch out its roots well into the soil. Hold onto the soil tightly to gather support for its branches. When wind blows, the swaying of the branches in a way resembles romance. It seems as if the wind is trying to woo the trees. The tree is laughing and dancing. Naughtiness of wind. Listen to the leaves. As the wind soars, the leaves roar. Nature is beautiful. “A thing of beauty is a joy forever”.
You may wonder how come a pioneer of engineering designs a master piece. You will find logic hidden in each of the intricate components. You know whom I am talking about. The person naturally gifted. Somehow he knows what others will never think of. Truly natural. You will be stunned if you deciphered his logic.
Development in science has enabled us to comprehend nature better. This fantastic tool has lead to development of very vast and seemingly endless body of knowledge. Love you nature!

Double Coincidence of Wants - Theory of Relationship

Double coincidence of wants is a necessary condition to carry out a transaction under barter system. It is the situation in which what a person has to offer is exactly what the other person wants and what the other person has to offer is what the first person wants in return. For example let there be a farmer and an iron smith. The farmer has surplus of food grain and the iron smith have farming tools. The farmer wants farming tools to carry out farming and the iron smith needs food to survive. This is double coincidence of wants. Now suppose a jeweller has jewellery and needs food but farmer has surplus food but do not want jewellery. This is lack of double coincidence of wants.
The main reason of failure of relationship with love interest is lack of double coincidence of wants. There is a large array of hopes, expectations, needs and desires that people have with their partner. For the sake of simplicity henceforth these will be referred to as wants. In the ideal case all and for minimal survival of the relationship at least a few of these must be fulfilled through double coincidence of wants.
A few examples of afore mentioned wants are: look, background, sociability, economic status, understanding, tenacity, charm, commitment, taste, common interest, etc. This list is not exhaustive. One highly attributed cause of love is sudden outburst of emotions. That click at which the heart yells, ‘He or she is the one’. That feeling of falling in love at the first sight. I see that an adaptation of our biological system in response to highly popular traditional belief that, ‘Jodiyan to asmano main banti hain’ i.e. ’Matches are made in heaven’.
I would like people to appreciate the level of complexity involved in finding the perfect match. Just suppose you are given a questionnaire containing 36 possible qualities that you hope to find in your partner. Against each quality you can either choose yes or no. Now if a very rough probability estimate of finding your perfect match using Bayes' Theorem is calculated, it comes out to be (1/2 ^36), i.e. one in about 68 billion that is nearly 11 times the current world population. I have considered your probability of ticking either yes or no to be ½. Now suppose we zero down to just three most critical wants and ask you to rate your level of expectation on a scale of 10. For case of exact match the probability comes out to be 1 in thousand. Just imagine the amount of time money and energy you would spend dating those thousand shorted most likely to be perfect match candidates and then zeroing to the real one. On top of this the wants vary with time and stages of growth and development.
At this point, I would like to remind you of your adolescence. It is the beginning of time when we first become aware of some of our wants. As these are unique to each one of us it generally leads to lack of double coincidence of wants. This is one of major adolescence problem and we generally complain, ‘No one understands me’. The stress caused may lead to development of bad habits and parents complain, ’Nowadays our children are slipping out of our hands’. Slowly our wants get moulded by our own personal experiences and beliefs held by our peer group.
Towards the end few people have successful relationship based on 1) persistence of double coincidence of wants 2)how effectively we communicate our wants with our partner 3)how comfortable we feel when our wants are not fulfilled and we compromise. If the thinking of people in a relationship is flexible, their level of discomfort is likely to be lower. Those with rigid way of thinking are more vulnerable to discomfort (They need more pampering). However flexibility of thinking should not be thought of as a guarantee for low discomfort.
Now I would dwell on the utility of this theory. I think knowledge of this theory can help people cope up with breakup. They are likely to figure out what exactly went wrong. This may ameliorate the pain of heartbreak; reduce trauma and depression which often is followed by such heartbreak. This may help minimise emotional disturbance and imbalance. This can help bring down incidence of crimes related to love affair.
I think research should be undertaken to establish the validity of this theory through systematic scientific survey and statistical analysis. The research insights may help resolve major issues related to large incidence of failed marriage. They may also help improve experience of match making and dating websites.
Also I think there is a lot of scope of expansion of this theory and constructive criticism is always welcomed. At the end remember the keyword: Double Coincidence of Wants.
